For a non-rusting, last for-ever solution use these Jubilee clips for firmly tightening pipes onto their fittings.  These Jubilee clips are made in the UK and are much heavier duty than many of the cheaper imitations.  Jubilee clips come in a wide range of sizes and it is best to for the smaller sizes (less than 30mm diameter) to use a closes match to the pipe as possible for a secure fit.  The larger sizes of Jubilee clips (especially those over 100mm) will very easily form to the curvature of the pipe so it is no problem to select a Jubilee clip which is larger in diameter than needed.
